I am thrilled to report that the majority of delegates in house district 5 voted for me in the Denver County Democratic Assembly this past weekend!  Despite the fact that there were four competitors in the race, I was able to secure 53% of the total vote.  This assures the top line on the Primary ballot and is a sign of our growing momentum.

I am honored and humbled by the support of so many people, have thoroughly enjoyed meeting my neighbors, and look forward to the Primary election in August.

Thanks to Andy Barwig and Vicki Rottman, long-time activists and party faithful in HD5, for nominating me at the assembly. Thank you as well to my opponent, J.J. Swiontek, for his lovely words in support of my candidacy.  Though he will no longer be in the race, his ideas and passion will remain.

Finally, an enormous thank you to everyone who turned out to vote both on caucus night as well as at the assembly.  Your time and commitment to the Democratic process is remarkable.  I thank you for your encouragement, your advice, and your trust.

Now the work continues. I look forward to knocking on many, many more doors, having conversations with each of you, and earning your vote in the August 10^th Primary and the November 2^nd General elections.

I am confident that the voters in district 5 will realize that I have a breadth and depth of experience bringing people together, moving policy forward, prioritizing funding and services, and building trust that my opponent has yet to develop.  Add to that my lifetime of serving our community and you get the qualities so needed to effect change in the state house.
