New Quality Jobs for Coloradans

Mark’s dream for a better life for Colorado families is rooted in personal experience. As an intern, he was represented by the Committee of Interns and Residents (now part of SEIU). His grandfather was a laborer in a car parts factory and his dad worked long hours all his life. Mark remembers having to buy day old bread at the bread store to save money. It hurts him to see so many friends and neighbors out of work and struggling to keep food on the table and a roof over their heads. That’s why Mark will be your strong advocate to:

• Grow new energy jobs by crafting an environment that encourages economic growth

• Develop our workforce through training programs that match employment needs

• Free up state budgets from state constitutional demands that thwart job growth

Access to Affordable Health Care for All

A physician since 1995, Mark Thrun is on the front-line helping members of our community overcome the economic challenges of a flawed health care system. He’s seen first hand the hardship patients face when they can’t afford — or can’t get — health insurance. He’s seen desperate people forced into home foreclosure because of exorbitant medical bills they simple cannot pay. He’s seen enough that he wants to take the fight to the state legislature as our advocate — the only physician in the House of Representatives. He will stand firm for:

    • Affordable health care for everyone in Colorado

    • Expanding programs and eligibility thresholds to reach out to those in need

Excellence in Education

A parent to two young boys, Mark understands the importance of a good education from an early age through college. He will work to:

• Provide our schools and teachers with the tools they need to develop innovative educational programs

• Make affordable higher education available to all academically capable students regardless of their background or heritage

Equality for All

Salary, benefits and civil rights discrimination remain widespread in our society … even right here in Colorado. You may have experienced it yourself. Though we will never be able to legislate away prejudice, Mark will:

    • Help devise tools that build equity in current systems and eliminate sexism, racism, homophobia and anti-immigrant fears
